Artist’s Bio

Born in Wales of Italian parents, Dom Rodi attended The University of Wolverhampton in 1969, graduating with a B.A. in Graphic Design. Beginning his career in London, he worked initially within advertising before joining the ideas-rich environment of mass-market publishing. A period as senior designer with Granada Publishing was followed by becoming Art Director of Star Books -W. H. Allen and then Sphere Publishing.

In 1979, having been approached by Artist Partners, a leading London illustrators’ agency, to become their managing director, he embarked upon the second stage of his career, and over the span of 17 years, established the agency as the foremost creative supplier of illustration within British publishing. During this time, he regularly participated in portfolio seminars for illustration students, lectured in graphics and illustration at various British art colleges and judged many of the professional and student illustrator showcases that were held annually.

Moving to Florida in 2000, he began to pursue the unfulfilled side of his creative talents. Drawing from such influences as Pop Art, silkscreen printing and a love of graphics and fine art in general, his images, first captured on camera, become transformed as his artistic process begins. Working extensively with form, colours, tones and textures, his digital imagery is developed to deliberately extend beyond the traditional boundaries of realism, ultimately revealing the graphic qualities that lie within his imagination.

These uniquely distinctive and evocative images now represent a contemporary interpretation to, and a continuation of, the printmaking processes he fell in love with many years ago…
